LeBron James, Tom Brady, Reggie Miller in awe of new 3-point king Stephen Curry: He 'changed the game'

It didn't take long for Stephen Curry to secure one of the NBA's marquee records on Tuesday.

The Golden State Warriors sharpshooter got his squad on the board with a 3-pointer 1:04 into Tuesday's game against the New York Knicks to tie Ray Allen on the all-time list with 2,973. Less than four minutes later, he launched a long ball from the right wing over the outstretched right hand of Knicks guard Alec Burks for No. 2,974 to stand alone as the NBA's 3-point king.

It's a record that a 33-year-old Curry still in his prime is expected to pile on and hold onto for a long, long time. The momentous occasion on one of the world's biggest stages was cause for Madison Square Garden to pause and give Curry his due on a visiting court.

Reggie Miller: Steph Curry 'changed the game'

With previous record holder Reggie Miller on the call for TNT, Allen in the building and Stephen's dad Dell Curry and mom Sonya watching from the sideline, Tuesday's game took time out for Curry to soak in the moment and the accolades from a Knicks crowd that gave a standing ovation in awe of the basketball history it had just witnessed.

"The way he changed the game, it's almost like how Babe Ruth changed baseball with the long ball," Miller said on TNT. "He has changed the game with the 3-point ball. How all 30 teams approach the game is because of No. 30. This is an absolute awesome experience."

Allen was there to greet Curry with a hug on the court after falling to No. 2 on the all-time list. Miller, who stands at No. 3, took time out from his play-calling duties to document the moment from his own point of view.

Head coach Steve Kerr took time at halftime to share his experience of the moment.

LeBron James, Tom Brady weigh in

Not everybody who wanted to could be in MSG to witness Curry's moment. So plenty of folks chimed in online to congratulate the NBA's new 3-point king.

Curry's coronation started before tipoff as he met Miller and Allen for pregame hugs. Nobody expected Curry to delay the record another night after entering Tuesday's Knicks matchup two shots short of the record.

As he's been wont to due since joining the NBA in 2009, Curry delivered. He shared another moment with Allen and Miller after scoring 22 points with five 3-pointers in Golden State's 105-96 win.
