Kiwi batsmen set stunning new cricket world record
Two middle-order batsmen have combined to set a new cricket world record on Wednesday.
Northern Districts’ Joe Carter and Brett Hampton hit a remarkable 43 runs off an over in New Zealand’s domestic one-day cup at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
Absolutely destroying young Central Districts bowler Willem Ludick, Hampton kicked things off with a boundary.

The very next ball went for six – and Ludick was called for a no ball.
To make matters worse he was hit for six the very next delivery – and again called for a no ball.
Hampton hit another six and then took a single, with Carter ending the over with three more maximums.
The 43 runs surpassed the previous record for most runs off one over in a List A match by four runs.
That mark, according to the all-knowing Cricinfo, was set by former Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura, who hit 39 runs all on his own.
When Hampton was dismissed in the over after the 43-run feast, he and Carter had improved Northern Districts’ score by 178 runs.
Carter’s unbeaten 102 – his first century in the domestic one-day competition – helped the home side to 7-313.
Northern Districts are without a win so far in the tournament, while Central Districts have recorded one victory.
Joe Carter, 102*. Brett Hampton, 95. Anton Devcich, 50. These scores formed the backbone of our first innings score of 313/7, which included ONE OVER which went for 43 RUNS from Carter and Hampton, believed to be a List A WORLD RECORD#ndtogether #cricketnation #worldrecord pic.twitter.com/KxSGAxdyhX
