Kieron Pollard has faced the wrath of cricket fans after bowling an apparent deliberate front-foot no ball to lose a Caribbean Premier League match, denying an opponent a crack at his century.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots chased down the Barbados Tridents' 9-128 in just 7.1 overs as opener Evin Lewis hit 97 runs off 32 balls.
But Lewis, who has played a combined 32 ODIs and T20 internationals for the West Indies, was not given the chance to hit the winning runs as Pollard overstepped when the Patriots required just one run to win.
Pollard, the Barbados captain, had not bowled a single no ball in the tournament.
He was hit for 20 runs by Lewis in the sixth over of the match.
Named man of the match, Lewis was interviewed on the ground and remarkably held his composure.
"It hurts (missing out on the hundred), but hitting 97 not out off 33 balls? I'll take that any day," he said.
"I've been hitting the ball long and hard in the nets. Confident now and looking forward to the playoffs."
Fans rushed to social media to criticise Pollard for his poor sportsmanship:
