Kayla Nicole Reveals Whether She's 'Betting on' Chiefs or Eagles for Super Bowl Win as She Touches Down in New Orleans (Exclusive)
Kayla Nicole tells PEOPLE that there is one football star she thinks is 'going to seal the deal' for a Super Bowl victory
Kayla Nicole has a Big Game winner in mind.
While discussing the season finale of Special Forces: World's Toughest Test on Wednesday, Feb. 5, the sports broadcaster shared her Super Bowl prediction exclusively with PEOPLE, revealing whether she’d “bet money” on the Kansas City Chiefs or the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I don't really have a dog in the fight,” Nicole, who dated Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for around five years before splitting in May 2022, tells PEOPLE exclusively. Still, she selected a team she thinks will win on Feb. 9 in New Orleans and explained her reason why.
Though she admitted she's "not a betting girl," she says if she “had to bet money” on a winner she'd pick the Chiefs. In fact, there is one player in particular who she believes will aid in their victory.
“I think that Patrick Mahomes is going to seal the deal,” Nicole tells PEOPLE of the quarterback defending the team’s back-to-back titles. “The guy knows what he's doing and I would bet the Chief's take this,” she confirms.
Nicole has created a name for herself in the sports scene as an on-air sports broadcast who currently hosts I'm Athlete Daily on Revolt TV. She graduated from Pepperdine University with a broadcast journalism degree and held various sports reporting gigs since.
Super Bowl week is a busy one for Nicole professionally, too, since she'll be working for I'm Athlete in the days leading up to the game. She posted on her Instagram Stories on Feb. 6 that she touched down in New Orleans for the big game, and told PEOPLE exclusively that she'll be covering the Eagles press conference.
That’s why she’s looking forward to the highly-anticipated NFL Championship Game, regardless of whether her ex is playing or not. “I watched the Super Bowl often. I'm a sports fanatic!” she says of how she’s feeling about the increased headlines and hype around it.
“If people are wondering why do I keep talking about sports, it's because I'm hosting a sports show called I'm Athlete Daily with Revolt TV,” Nicole tells PEOPLE. “But I love the game of football. Super Bowl is one of the biggest events of the year.”
Plus, the sports-lover said she is looking forward to the potential history-making moment the Kansas City Chiefs could secure if they win, becoming the first-ever NFL team to “three-peat” at the Super Bowl.
“This is a really cool time for football, especially considering the Chiefs are about to potentially make history with a three-peat,” she tells PEOPLE. “So it's an exciting time to be a football fan for sure.”
The Kansas City Chiefs have won the Big Game four times: Super Bowl IV, Super Bowl LIV, Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LVIII. A third consecutive victory at the Super Bowl has never been accomplished by an NFL team.
