Gorry met Markstedt in 2022 having moved to Sweden to play football Vittsjo GIK, where she recently just played her last game. The duo were engaged in June 2023 during a trip to Sweden. The news of Gorry and Markstedt welcoming a new baby into the family sent her Matildas teammates wild.

Kyra Cooney wrote: So much love for the 3 of you. Charli Grant and I are going to be the best aunties." Grant responded and wrote: "The cutest family." Goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold also commented: "The cutest little fam. I can't wait." And Ellie Carpenter shared love hearts at the announcement.

The news comes as the 31-year-old weighs up her club and Matildas future. After the World Cup, Gorry made the brutal admission she wasn't sure she would reach the next tournament in four years.

Speaking right after the devastating loss to England in the semi-final, Gorry admitted the older players of the squad would be hurting having missed out on making history in a home World Cup. "Everyone's gonna be hurting. I think the veterans probably more - we don't really have another World Cup in us," she told reporters after the game.

"So it's a tough one to swallow at the moment. But, we'll all get around each other, we'll make sure that we're ready to go for the next game. Because we want that bronze medal. It's dangling right in front of us, Australia has got us here so far, we're not gonna let them down."

Since the World Cup, Gorry played club her final game for Swedish team Vittsjo GIK in November. Gorry paid a lovely tribute to the club where she met her fiancee and fellow player Markstedt.

“To my Vittsjo GIK family, THANK YOU," Gorry wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for giving me this opportunity, for welcoming us with open arms and for taking care of our little girl.

“Thank you to our incredible supporters, to my team, to our coaching staff and most of all our incredible Nannies. This has become our home for the last 2 years but it’s time to say goodbye and set off on a new adventure. I came here with a 6-month-old and I’m leaving with a bilingual 2-year-old, a beautiful fiancée and people that will hold a place in our hearts forever.”

Gorry's immediate future remains unclear, and she hasn't yet signed with another team for next season. Some have tipped her for a move to one of the big European clubs after an impressive showing at the recent Women's World Cup for the Matildas.
