Horse dumps jockey and wins, jockey gets up to win next race

There was a remarkable turn of events in Geelong on Tuesday as a jockey was thrown from her horse, with the horse going on to win the race and the jockey winning her next run later in the day.

Katelyn Mallyon was thrown from $13 chance Isere at the start of the 1100m race two.

The 23-year-old Mallyon fell to the ground but was up on her feet almost immediately.

While she recovered, Isere powered through the field despite the slow start and finished ahead of true winner Kharir.

Two races later Mallyon rode Sistine Saint to victory over 1900m.

Mallyon was stoked after her win in race four. Pic:

All smiles, Mallyon was well aware of her good fortune - even if she missed out on a second win of the day.

"I was very lucky," she told

"It was pretty graphic to watch when I came back into the rooms, and it definitely felt graphic. But we're all ok and the horse is ok.

"She actually went on to win her race, so I possibly could've walked out with a double but that's ok."
