Jude Bellingham hails Kylian Mbappe as 'new look' Real Madrid win UEFA Super Cup

Jude Bellingham has hailed the “new look” Real Madrid after winning the UEFA Super Cup.

The Champions League holders beat Europa League winners Atalanta 2-0 in Warsaw to claim a record-breaking sixth triumph in the competition.

After a relatively cagey opening 45 minutes, Carlo Ancelotti’s side turned on the style in the second-half.

Vinicius Jr teed up Federico Valverde for a tap-in not long after the interval before Bellingham, who impressed in a deeper role, laid on a debut goal for Kylian Mbappe with a clever pass.

It is an ominous statement from the European champions, who won LaLiga at a canter last season all while claiming a record-extending 15th Champions League title.

To have since added one of the world’s leading forwards in Mbappe into the mix is a daunting prospect to those trying to dethrone them and Bellingham is pleased with how the new set-up looks, albeit with tougher tests to come.

“We have a new-look team,” he told TNT Sports.

“It seemed to click tonight – sometimes it takes a bit of time. The first half, we were still adjusting, but the second half it all came together and we were brilliant. We've got to enjoy nights like tonight."

Asked specifically about Mbappe, Bellingham added: "He's just one of those players, he's brilliant. So sharp. So much technical quality.

“A great team-mate as well. He works for the team, like the rest of the lads. Credit to him, and he deserves it tonight."

Mbappe was delighted to win a trophy in his first game as a Madrid player, saying: “You say Real Madrid, you say trophies.

“It’s the best club in the world.”
