Jennifer Lawrence has looked back on a hilarious moment on the set of her R-rated comedy No Hard Feelings.

The Hunger Games star plays carefree Uber driver Maddie Barker, striking a deal to "date" shy 19-year-old Percy Becker (Andrew Barth Feldman) to get him out of his shell before he's off to college. Hired by Percy's parents, Maddie makes her mission to get the teen to loosen up with comically disastrous results.

The two actors also had time to bond despite being involved in demanding scenes, including a car sequence in which Feldman had to shed his clothes while behind the wheel.

"A lot of the car stuff was part stunt, part us," he confirmed in a chat with Access Hollywood, explaining he was indeed naked "for three feet" whist driving.

Lawrence looked back on that day from set, revealing she and her co-star were actually doing something rather mundane between takes.

"My favourite memory from that was while we were shooting that scene, I was helping him buy furniture for his apartment," she said. "And so he was nude and in between we were just on Etsy."

"It was also a day of us hanging out," Feldman confirmed.

Directed and co-written by Gene Stupnitsky, the film faced some backlash for its premise, seeing Percy's "helicopter" parents hiring an older woman to go out with their son.

Responding to the criticism, Laura Benanti and Matthew Broderick, who plays Percy's mum Allison and dad Laird, defended the film, calling it a "cautionary tale" of meddling parents.

"I feel like it is a very satirical look at what can happen if you do not give your children a longer leash to figure things out for themselves," Benanti told The Hollywood Reporter.

No Hard Feelings is in cinemas now.
