Former NRL star Jarryd Hayne has joined the San Francisco 49ers after earning an NFL futures contract.
It is understood Hayne agreed to a deal with the 49ers on Sunday, while also considering offers from the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks.
Hayne quit the NRL in October last year to chase his dream of playing top flight football in the United States and that ambition is now a step closer to reality.
Futures contracts are no guarantee of a spot on an NFL roster, they are merely a foot in the door for players not on active rosters.
They give fringe players, such as Hayne, the chance to crack a team's 53-man roster for the upcoming NFL season.
Got to admire @jarrydhayne_1's massive leap of faith!! Go well son!!
