Incredible 'spiderman' catch shocks cricket world

AB de Villiers has stunned fans and fellow players with one of the most remarkable catches in cricket history.

The South African great was fielding on the boundary during his Royal Challengers Bangalore’s clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL on Thursday.

And he was called into action when Englishman Alex Hales smashed a slog sweep in his direction.

The ball looked destined for six, until De Villiers jumped into the air to take an incredible one-handed screamer.

Not only did he have to time his jump and catch to perfection, he also had to make sure his feet didn’t hit the boundary rope upon landing, which he also managed to pull off.

Bangalore captain Virat Kohli looked gobsmacked on the field, and later described the catch as ‘inhuman’.

“That was Spiderman stuff,” Kohli said. “You don’t do that as normal human beings.”

“I thought it was going for a six and then he pulls it out. Then the jump and the balance.

“He can do freakish things. I’m used to it now.

“His shots still leave me in awe but his fielding I am pretty used to and that was fun to watch.”

Kohli also took to social media after the game with more praise.

And Kohli wasn’t the only one in awe of course, with the cricket world going nuts on social media:

And it’s not the first time De Villiers has left Kohli in awe during this IPL season.

He also brought out a hilarious reaction from the Indian skipper with this unbelievable shot earlier in the tournament:

De Villiers also scored 69 to power Bangalore to 6-218.

Hyderabad then stayed in the game until the last over before finishing 14 runs short.
