Who are the highest-paid running backs in the NFL in 2025? Saquon Barkley ranks third
Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley is the NFL's first $20 million-per-year running back. But who are the other highest-paid players at the position?
Despite Philadelphia signing its 2,000-yard rusher to a two-year, $41.2 million extension on Tuesday, according to reports, Barkley is still not the highest-paid running back by average annual value nor 2025 cash value.
That's thanks to the lesser value of the contract he signed last March. So even after Barkley officially signs his extension, which comes just one year into that three-year deal he signed last offseason and within the same league year as the initial contract, he falls short of securing the crown for highest-paid tailback.
