Guernsey FC women lose first ever home game
Guernsey FC women lost their first-ever match on home soil as they went down 4-1 to Sutton United in the Combined Counties Women's Cup third round.
The Sarnians - who started their first campaign in the Jersey women's league this season - had a crowd of more than 700 supporting them at Footes Lane.
They also played in the Isthmian League Cup this season, where they were knocked out by Carshalton Athletic on penalties in September.
Guernsey - who have won all eight of the league games and are 12 points clear at the top of the Jersey league - started superbly as Calleigh Hedley's sixth-minute lob gave them the lead as she registered her 20th goal in 12 games.
Hedley hit the bar soon after as Guernsey impressed, but the south London side took control with Milly Cutler firing her team level after 25 minutes before claiming a second 11 minutes later.
Cutler was fouled in the box four minutes into the second half with Beth Humphrey converting the resulting penalty before K'Shaela Burch-Waldron hit the post.
Ilana Harris-Walters tapped in a fourth in stoppage time for Sutton as they progressed into the fourth round.
