Golf star announces engagement to NBA legend's son

Tributes have been flooding social media after one of golf’s biggest female stars announced her engagement to the son of an NBA legend.

American superstar Michelle Wie added more hardware to her collection over the weekend with a piece no one can top.

The golfer announced her engagement to Jonnie West on Instagram, with a touching caption to mark the momentous occasion.

“My person for life,” Wie captioned the photos with explanation points, hearts and the hashtag “WieGoesWest.”

Wie, 29, and West, 30, went public with their relationship in January, so it hasn’t taken West very long to pop the question.

West is the director of basketball operations for the Golden State Warriors and the son of basketball legend Jerry West – an NBA Hall of Famer and championship winner with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The couple’s big news has led to an outpouring of love on social media.

While things are clearly going very well for Wie off the golf course, she has had a fair share of adversity to deal with on it.

She ended her 2018 season early due to a right hand injury that required surgery in October.

It stemmed from a car accident two years ago that she is still receiving treatment for off the links.

The 2014 U.S. Women’s Open champion recently made her comeback from wrist surgery, but was forced to withdraw from last month’s HSBC Women’s World Championship after 14 holes when the injury flared up again.
