For most golfers whose names aren't Phil Mickelson, executing the perfect flop shot is one of the hardest skills in the game.

Lucky for all you weekend hackers, social media star and golfer Paige Spiranac is here to save the day.

The former golfing pro - who has a following of some 2.8 million people on Instagram - has posted a helpful video to teach people how to expertly execute the shot.

Flop shots are generally used close to the green, when golfers need to get maximum loft and spin on the ball, while enabling it to come to a quick stop.

Mickelson is widely regarded as the king of the flop shot in the world of golf, but Spiranac's video tutorial is certainly a handy guide for players of all abilities.

The 27-year-old's Playing a Round with Paige Renee podcast has proven a massive hit and on her "Quickies with Paige" video series she goes through her "most highly requested shot".

Teaching viewers how to "flop it like it's hot", Spiranac says the first step is to completely open up the club face at address.

"This is my favourite shot to hit in golf and is actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it!” Spiranac captioned the video post of her flop shot tutorial.

Since it was posted earlier in the week, the video has been viewed more than one million times.

If you're a budding golf enthusiast, it's easy to see why as Spiranac makes one of the hardest shots in golf look like a piece of cake.

“Have confidence through your shot," Spiranac tells viewers.

"Flop shots can be a little scary to hit sometimes, especially off of a hardpan, so make sure that you practice, practice, practice.

“That’s how you’re really going to improve your short game, especially with a flop shot."

Spiranac has received tons of replies from followers after posting the clip, thanking her for breaking down the process involved to execute the shot.

“Can’t wait to go out there and flop it like it’s hot!” one follower wrote.

Another follower wrote: "Great video here, really broke it down well. Let’s see the low spinner next?"

“My favourite shot in golf! You couldn’t have broken it down any better. Can’t wait to watch your next video,” another replied.

American’s podcast proves immensely popular

Spiranac’s podcast has been a source of countless stories, observations and shared life lessons from the American.

She recently revealed a horrifying ordeal in which an explicit photo of her was shared online, as well as taking aim at the ‘elitist’ male culture in golf.

Spiranac has also opened up about her many failed attempts to find love, saying men would ‘take advantage’ of her for golf tips.

“I would always open up a conversation with, ‘Hey I play golf’ and anything along those lines and I thought that it would work,” Spiranac said.

“Unfortunately, guys were using me for golf lessons, golf equipment and golf balls.”

The 27-year-old has taken some time away from professional golf to focus on a media career and her anti-bullying charity work.

She is an ambassador for Cybersmile - educating young people about the dangers of cyber-bullying.
