Georgia Man Surprises Fellow Nurse With Proposal on Helipad

A trauma nurse in Marietta, Georgia, proposed to his girlfriend and coworker on a hospital helipad on October 15, much to her surprise and delight.

Jacob Young and Kelsey Dunlap met while working together at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, Dunlap’s sister told Storyful.

“She had just begun her ER nursing career and was assigned to shadow him. A romance quickly blossomed, then COVID hit,” said Heather Stanton, Dunlap’s sister and the recorder of the heartwarming proposal. “It was the hardest time the hospital has ever seen. The stress of working in that environment only strengthened their relationship. They were able to vent to each other in a way that no one else could quite understand.”

Young devised a plan to surprise Kelsey with the ring, telling her that he’d be across the street from the hospital to instruct graduates. At the same time, she was called to get a patient on the helipad, where Young was waiting.
