The Genesis Invitational is paying tribute to Tiger Woods' mom this week at Torrey Pines
On Feb. 4, Tiger Woods lost his mother, Tida Woods. She was 80 years old. The 15-time major champion originally committed to play in this week's Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines, a golf course where he's won eight times, but pulled out on Monday, saying he wasn't ready.
In Tida's honor, the PGA Tour is using an all-white flag on the South Course's seventh hole. Here's why: "A native of Thailand, Tida was a faithful Buddhist, and the No. 7 and color white are significant in Buddhism and will be displayed in her honor," the Tour wrote in a social media post Thursday.
Woods hasn't played since the British Open in July, and it's unknown whether he'll tee it up before the Masters in April.
