GB's Mapp retains Para-bobsleigh World Cup title
Britain's Corie Mapp has retained his Para-bobsleigh World Cup crown after the season concluded in Latvia.
The 46-year-old led the standings by a massive 131 points going into the final two races of the season in Sigulda and - despite finishing eighth in both races - his advantage was enough to give him the title.
The Briton finished the eight-race competition on 1605 points, 27 clear of Switzerland's Jonas Frei and a further four in front of Austria's Hermann Ellmauer in third for his third title since 2018.
Mapp, who is a double amputee following injury while on active duty in Afghanistan in 2010, won three golds, a silver and two bronze medals in the opening six races of the season.
He will next be in action at the World Championships in St Moritz on 13 and 14 February.
However, the sport will not be part of next year's Winter Paralympics in Milan-Cortina after the International Paralympic Committee turned down its bid for inclusion, saying it did not meet the minimum criteria for the number of nations and regions regularly participating.
