Serena Williams' subtle swipe at French Open officials in new outfit

We’ve had the catsuit, the tutu and the green power ranger, and now Serena Williams is set to debut a whole new outfit at the French Open.

Serena posted images of her outfit on social media on Sunday, ahead of her first round match at Roland Garros.

Fans immediately went wild over the flash Nike ensemble, which comes with its very own cape featuring the words “Mother, Champion, Queen, Goddess” printed on it in French.

But as the images began circulating on social media, some fans were left asking the same question.

How is she going to play tennis in it?

Our guess is the cape comes off when it’s game time.

Message to French Open?

Just 12 months ago when Serena stepped out in a ‘Black Panther-inspired’ catsuit at Roland Garros, organisers caused a major stir when they said they would ban similar outfits in future.

However the full-length body suit was actually designed to help Serena’s circulation, following complications after the birth of her first child.

Hitting back at the criticism, Nike said: “You can take the superhero out of her costume, but you can never take away her superpowers.”

And that superhero theme appears to have continued with this year’s cape.

Serena again collaborated with ‘Off-White’ creative director Virgil Abloh for the outfit, named ‘Ever’.

That follows on from her ‘Greatest’ outfit at the Australian Open in January.
