Former NBA player Doug Overton charged with indecent exposure

Former NBA journeyman Doug Overton has been arrested on charges of indecent exposure and disorderly conduct after allegedly exposing himself on a public trail in suburban Philadelphia on Sunday.

Overton, a former La Salle University star and current head coach at Lincoln University, was apparently seen exposing himself to both men and a woman on the Cynwyd Trail, according to court documents obtained by the Philadelphia Inquirer.

One male witness claimed Overton was walking with his genitals exposed, while another witness alleges he was touching his exposed penis while staring at a woman. Overton was described by one witness as walking “calmly and deliberately," seemingly aware he was exposing himself but was "content with the situation,” police said.

Overton, a second-round pick of the Pistons in the 1991 NBA Draft, told CSNPhilly.com he was relieving himself while walking his dog and he is innocent of the charges brought against him.

“That’s not the Doug Overton I know. That’s for sure,” said Speedy Morris, Overton’s coach at La Salle, via the Inquirer. “I’m shocked. Shocked.”

Overton, 47, played 11 seasons in the NBA for eight teams before taking on coaching stints at Saint Joseph’s and with the Nets.
