Cameraman knocked unconscious during football match

A cameraman in Germany has ended up in hospital after becoming an unwilling participant in a football match at the weekend.

During Hoffenheim's match against Mainz 05, Hoffenheim captain Andreas Beck hurtled towards the touchline in a bid to keep the ball in play.

He did so, but he couldn't halt his momentum and clattered into the unsuspecting sideline cameraman.

The SKY operator was knocked unconscious and treated by paramedics at the ground before being taken to hospital.

"He is doing well under the circumstances. He is responsive and has been given a neurological check in hospital," a Hoffenheim spokesman said.

Despite suffering sore ribs in the collision, Beck played most of the match in the 4-2 loss.
