Villa midfielder Bannan apologises to fans for poor cup showing

Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan has taken the time to apologise to fans for the teams dismal showing in the Carling Cup last night.

Villa supporters have been critcising the team all day for their 2-0 home loss to Bolton in the third round of the cup and now young gun Bannan has made it a point to say sorry for a subpar performance.

"We have to apologise to the fans as we have let them down. Everyone is down, we know we should be doing better," the Scotland international said.

"There are probably a few lads who are low in confidence and if we can get them back firing we know we can beat anyone on our day.

"It is about having that confidence and belief to take it on to the pitch in matches. We had some good positions in the final third and we should have done better.

"We'll be looking at the video in the next couple of days to cut out these errors.

"We have to try and go back and look over what we could have done better.

"Looking around the changing room, there are a great bunch of players in there just waiting to shine."
