Is this club football's most chaotic derby?

Incredible amateur footage has captured the pre-game mayhem at a violent derby in Serbia where several people were injured in a mass brawl.

The vision shows dozens of police decked out in riot gear standing between the fans in the stands and the players on the pitch before the game between Belgrade rivals Red Star and Partizan.

An entire section of the stands is lit up by an insane pyrotechnics display as flares and firecrackers light up the night sky.

Flares can also be seen shooting from the stands onto the pitch, metres away from where the players are warming up and security are patrolling.

The entire chaos is accompanied by the soundtrack of supporters chanting their team songs, with police clearly accustomed to such scenes.

The match finished 1-1 after Red Star's Richmond Boakye equalised six minutes from time after a Seydouba Soumah penalty had given Partizan a second-half lead.

But the play was overshadowed by a brawl that broke out between rival supporters, resulting in 17 people suffering injuries.

AFP photographers at Partizan's Stadion Partizana said the fight broke out in a section of the stadium housing home fans and lasted around 10 minutes.

One photographer said the fight was between rival groups of Partizan fans.

Police were forced to intervene to end the scuffles while several fans, some with bloodied faces, were evacuated from the stadium.

Since the break up of the former Yugoslavia, the Belgrade derby has often been beset by hooligan problems.
