Sunshine Stars proved their superiority over Osun United, says Thomas Adeshina

Sunshine Stars defeated Osun United 3-2 on aggregate in the quarter-final to prove their superiority in the Federation Cup, according to midfielder Thomas Adeshina.

The Owena Whales bowed 1-0 to Omoluabi Boys in the first leg but secured a 3-1 win in the return leg to set up a semi-final clash with Akwa United.

And the midfielder insists his side were aware of the Oshogbo boys threat and feels converting their chances powered them to the last four of the competition.

"We truly deserved to win because we showed we were better on the pitch," Adeshina told Goal.

"We needed to win badly because of the way we lost the first leg and need to qualify for the semi-final. Our dreams to win the Federation Cup are still intact.

"Our defeat in the first leg in Oshogbo was not good enough despite creating many chances which we couldn't convert.

"And in Ijebu Ode, Osun came with plans to frustrate us but we were fully prepared for them and took our chances despite they caused us a lot of troubles but we proved superiority."
