Incredible moment footballer saves opponent's life

A quick-thinking striker came to the rescue of an opposition goalkeeper during a frightening incident in a Czech Republic league game.

The extraordinary moment happened in the first half of the 0-0 draw between Bohemians 1905 and Slovacko.

Bohemians keeper Martin Berkovec was involved in a sickening collision with his own defender that left both players sprawled out on the pitch.

Slovacko striker Francis Kone noticed the opposition keeper was in considerable trouble so he immediately sprang into action.

Kone forced Berkovec's mouth open and pulled the unconscious player's tongue out so he wouldn't accidentally swallow it.

Other players also came in to lend their assistance by rolling Berkovec onto his side, before medical personnel took over.

The most incredible part of the incident was the fact that it wasn't the first or even the second time that Kone has had to perform such a rescue.

"It has been four times," Kone revealed after the match.

"Once in Thailand and twice in Africa. I'm always checking the players, to make sure they have not swallowed their tongue."

The grateful Bohemians keeper took to social media after the match to thank the striker for his heroic actions.

"I would like to thank Francis Kone for rescue and emergency at today's game," Kone said.

"I'm glad for the relief and thanks again!!!"
