2015 AFC Asian Cup set for final draw in Sydney
The final draw for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup for 2015 is almost upon us.
The draw for the 16-team AFC tournament, which will be held in Australia in January next year, is taking place at the iconic Sydney Opera House tonight at 7:00pm (AEST).
15 nations have already booked their spot in the finals while the final side will be decided at the AFC challenge Cup 2014 to be held in May in the Maldives.
Rankings have been calculated from the FIFA rankings which were released earlier this month, however, hosts Australia have been rated in Pot 1 despite sitting sixth overall in Asian rankings.
Japan qualified automatically as reigning champions after beating Australia 1-0 in the final in Qatar in 2011.
The pots for the 2015 Asian Cup draw are as follows:
Pot 1
Australia Iran Japan Uzbekistan
Pot 2
Korea Republic UAE Jordan Saudi Arabia
Pot 3
Oman China Qatar Iraq
Pot 4
Bahrain Kuwait DPR Korea AFC Challenge Cup winner
