Football fans perplexed by English star's 'impossible' hand gesture
Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli has sent football fans wild with a hand gesture that’s been described as ‘impossible’ by fans on social media.
The midfielder unveiled the mystifying move after putting his side ahead in the 18th minute against Newcastle United on the weekend, facing up to the cameras and unleashing his move in celebration.
The England World Cup star made an eye hole through his thumb and forefinger, while resting his other three fingers against his forehead – a move that seemingly no one else has been able to replicate properly.
That’s certainly not for lack of trying.
Am I the only one that's still trying to figure out how Dele Alli managed to do this with his hand?.. pic.twitter.com/gp2C1RyeWQ

Alli – perhaps sensing the confusion his celebration had caused – proceeded to challenge his teammates to do the hand gesture, following their victory over Newcastle.
As you can see in the video at the top of the page, none of his Spurs teammates, including Fernando Llorente and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, had the same skills as the 22-year-old.
The celebration itself remains a mystery and Alli has so far failed to divulge its meaning despite being quizzed about it by fans on social media.
Alli, who also tagged Danny Welbeck and Jesse Lingard in the post, captioned the video: “Meanwhile. Check this… ” and “Nah I’m done with this guy. The struggle is real.”
Tottenham return to action this weekend with the visit of Fulham at Wembley and all eyes will be on Alli once more to see if he’s celebrating another strike under the arch.
Here’s the man himself showing you how to do it…
