Floyd 'Money' Mayweather bets $15 million on Denver to win the Super Bowl

In the unlikely event that you ever go out for dinner with boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, make sure he picks up the bill.

The undefeated American has never been shy in showing off his money and he's taken it to a new level by outlaying almost $A15 million on next week's Super Bowl.

The 36-year-old has reportedly bet $US10.4 million ($A11.86 million) on Denver Broncos to beat Seattle Seahawks by more than two points in Monday's match.

Other reports say he has also wagered almost $A3 million that the Broncos will be ahead at half-time.

Because no betting agency would be brave or foolish enough to accept such a large bet, Mayweather had to get creative.

He has reportedly placed bets with seven different agencies using four offshore accounts, with the total amount coming to just under $A15 million.

Such a large amount of money is almost small change to Mayweather, who can draw up to $US50 million for just one fight.

Mayweather boasts an incredible record of 45 wins from 45 professional bouts and is regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time.

But he is no stranger to controversy.

He has been convicted several times on charges of domestic violence and spent 90 days in jail in 2012.

He is also infamous for flaunting his exorbitant wealth, regularly posting photos on social media of huge piles of cash.

And Mayweather is also no stranger to placing huge bets on sporting events, including splurging $US1.1 million on a college football game in 2012.

No wonder his nickname is 'Money'.
