Fifita reportedly threatens to quit the NRL
Andrew Fifita has threatened to quit the NRL due to his omission from the Kangaroos squad, according to Fairfax Media.
The Grand Final star, who was unlucky to miss out on the Clive Churchill Medal, was controversially overlooked for the Four Nations squad as a result of a series of indiscretions, most recently his support for one-punch killer Kieran Loveridge.
The Origin star reportedly talked with his management about the possibility of walking away from the game, despite having two years left on his contract.
The NRL continue to investigate Fifita's support of Loveridge, but the prop insists he has "no regrets".
The 27-year-old was also banned for six games last year for abusing a junior rugby league referee.
The Sharks said on Wednesday they are yet to receive any information from Fifita or his management about the matter.
If he was to leave there would be a silver lining for the club, as it would free up a huge amount of cap space to retain a number of stars who are coming off contract at the end of 2017, including Valentine Holmes and Jack Bird.
