'Act like a captain': Football star's bizarre reaction divides fans
Nabil Dirar might have been wearing the captain’s armband during Fenerbahce’s pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich but it didn’t stop him attempting to leave the field when his fans booed him.
Fenerbahce were 6-1 down against Munich in their Audi Cup pre-season friendly when the fans started to get on the back of the Turkish club.
Dirar, who was wearing the captain’s armband at the time, was copping some of the jeers and clearly took exception to the fans in the 71st minute.
Picking up the ball on the sideline the Moroccan started to sprint before coming to a sudden halt.
He then kicked the ball directly out, under no pressure, and proceeded to walk off the field shaking his head.
When his coach attempted to reason with him the 33-year-old pushed him away and headed towards the tunnel.
But summer signing Emre Belezoglu and coaching staff intercepted him and convinced him to take the field.
Bayern forward Thomas Mueller approached Dirar on the field to calm him down as the Moroccan continued.
The coach also pleaded for the fans to cheer their players as tempers flared.
Many fans on social media were divided on Dirar’s unusual reaction to leave the pitch.

Captain Nabil #Dirar wants to quit the match because #Bayern trashed #Fener 6-1 and Fener fans started booeing their team.
Really shameful behaviour, act like a captain when you wear the armband!
Thomas #Müller showed what a great sportsman he is, he motivated Dirar to continue. https://t.co/grelrq6Wb4— MorFootball (@morfootball_) July 30, 2019
Nabil Dirar is having a pretty bad game and the crowd’s jeering is getting to him. A brief pause in play but his coach is encouraging the fans to cheer, instead. Nice touch. #FCBFEN
