Fans React To Katie Ledecky's Resounding Loss To Ariarne Titmus At Olympics

Katie Ledecky lost to Ariarne Titmus of Australia again in the Olympic 400-meter freestyle final at the Paris Games on Saturday ― by a lot.

In fact, Ledecky, one of the most decorated Olympic female swimmers with a record 6 gold medals, took bronze.

Titmus won in 3 minutes, 57.49 seconds, pretty much leading from the get-go. Canada’s Summer McIntosh took silver, with a time of 3:58.37, and Ledecky clocked in at 4:00.86, fading badly in the second half of the race.

Ledecky beat Titmus in a morning heat. But with medals on the line, the 27-year-old American couldn’t keep up.

Silver medallist Canada's Summer Mcintosh (L), gold medallist Australia's Ariarne Titmus and bronze medallist US' Katie Ledecky pose with their medals on the podium of the women's 400m freestyle swimming event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at the Paris La Defense Arena in Nanterre, west of Paris, on July 27, 2024.

Fans tried to stay positive. The 400, which Ledecky last won in Rio in 2016, is not her strongest event. Her best shot for gold will come in the 800 or 1,500.

“My goat katie ledecky will bounce back trust!” one observer wrote.

Other Olympics spectators weren’t so sure.
