Formula 1 star cops backlash over new relationship with Aussie cyclist

Valtteri Bottas has hit out at the ‘haters’ after moving on with Aussie cyclist Tiffany Cromwell following his divorce in November.

The Formula One star announced three months ago that he and ex-wife Emilia had split due to “challenges my career and life situation bring.”

And the Mercedes driver has since raised eyebrows after starting a new relationship with 31-year-old Cromwell.

Bottas posted a photo with Cromwell on social media recently, writing: “Haters gonna hate.”

Cromwell also posted a cute pic of the couple on Valentine’s Day before taking a shot at their critics.

“Happy Valentines Day to this amazing human being who completely understands me and always knows how to make me smile,” the Aussie wrote.

“My adventure buddy, training partner and coffee shop explorer @valtteribottas. So lucky to have found you. Can't wait for all the adventures to come.

“And to whom it may concern... we're happy and that's all that matters to us.”

Bottas and Cromwell cop nasty backlash

Bottas and Cromwell have both copped backlash on social media, with users constantly commenting on how quickly they’ve coupled up after his divorce.

“My boy can move on quick,” one user wrote on Bottas’ latest post.

Another posted: “OMG that's fast.”

While another user wrote: “OMG! The ink hasn't even dried on the divorce papers yet #Shocking #NotImpressed.”

Others were quick to defend the happy couple.

“There are no rules on how long you have to leave it after a divorce, so who cares? As long as they are both happy!” another user wrote.

Bottas shared an emotional statement with fans after announcing his marriage with Emilia was over.

“Unfortunately I have to let you know that the marriage between Emilia and myself has come to an end,” he wrote last year.

“Our ways have split because of the challenges my career and life situation bring and we think this is the best for both of us and our future lives, so we are separating as friends.

“I will be forever thankful for all the sacrifices she had to make for me, for her support during many years and for all the experiences that we have had together.

“I trust that you will respect both of us and our privacy regarding this matter.

“This will be all I have to say and comment regarding our divorce.”
