Lewis Hamilton's sinister claim after Michael Masi's F1 sacking

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton has let rip at F1 officials ahead of the 2022 season and has called for 'non-biased' stewards to be introduced.

Hamilton, who is coming off a heartbreaking title loss to Red Bull's Max Verstappen, recently sent a warning to his rivals that he would be returning in 2022 stronger than ever.

And now, the Mercedes ace has taken aim at the stewards for showing 'bias' towards some teams.

Hamilton recently backed the F1's decision for change, after stepping down Australian race director Michael Masi following the drama Abu Dhabi finale.

And the seven-time F1 champion has appeared to allude to officials again in his latest claim.

"We need to make sure we have non-biased stewards," Hamilton said, in an astonishing accusation.

"Some of the former race drivers, who are now stewards, are very good friends with certain individuals, some travel with certain individuals, and tend to take more of a keen liking to them.

"So people who have no bias, are going to be super-central when it comes to making decisions."

F1 team bosses disagree with Lewis Hamilton

In an unusual act of unity, both Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff and his Red Bull rival Christian Horner refuted Hamilton's suggestion.

"I don't think it is a conscious bias," Wolff said.

"The stewards are intelligent people.

"But there needs to be a standard. This is what we deserve and this is what we expect.

"The most important topic is inconsistency and there shouldn't be a lot of room to interpret the rules. I have faith in (FIA president) Mohammed (Ben Suleyman) that going forward we will optimise the new structure."

Red Bull boss Horner said he wasn't aware of the claims Hamilton had made.

"I am not aware of any stewards travelling with drivers to races, and I certainly don't think there was bias from any stewards in the last seasons," he said.

The FIA hit back at the claims and said stewards are extremely well trained and carry out their job with the 'utmost professionalism'.

Drivers are currently in Barcelona testing their vehicles ahead of the Bahrain season opener on March 20.
