Even Mark Cuban thinks the Mavericks got fleeced in Luka Doncic trade

Mavericks fans were left stunned last month when the team traded away superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for a package that included Anthony Davis and a first-round pick.

The move was seen as baffling by many, with the prevailing sentiment being that the Mavericks traded away one of the best players in the NBA for not enough in return. And in a recent interview with WFAA in Dallas, former principle owner and current minority owner Mark Cuban didn't exactly counter those assertions.

"If the Mavs are going to trade Luka, that's one thing," Cuban said per ESPN. "Just get a better deal. No disrespect to Anthony Davis, but I still firmly believe if we had gotten four unprotected No. 1s and Anthony Davis and Max Christie, this would be a different conversation."

Cuban no longer has as much sway in the organization after selling his majority stake last year. When asked if he would've traded away Doncic, he said he is "not going there" and that "it doesn't matter."

Still, that doesn't exactly scream confidence in the current Dallas front office, which is led by general manager Nico Harrison.

It's been a frustrating season for the Mavs, both before and after the trade. The 32-31 Mavericks still have a shot at the postseason as they occupy the No. 10 spot in the Western Conference standings, but Davis suffered an injury shortly after the trade and hasn't returned, while point guard Kyrie Irving suffered a torn ACL shortly after.
