England route to Euro 2024 final: How the Three Lions could win tournament after dramatic last-16 comeback

England have made it through to the quarter-finals at Euro 2024 in Germany, just.

Gareth Southgate’s side continue to fail to live up to pre-tournament expectations in terms of performances, with four consecutive below-par displays so far, but five points was enough to top Group C and then Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane both struck in a dramatic last-16 comeback to thwart Slovakia.

Despite a series of uninspiring displays, England had their hopes boosted by results elsewhere, with Spain, Portugal, Germany and France all ending up on the other side of the draw.

The Three Lions beat Slovakia in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday night, a game from which they were strong favourites to progress but came within seconds of losing before that thrilling turnaround.

After making it through their last-16 match, they will face Switzerland, who produced a superb display to knock defending champions Italy out, in the quarter-finals. The Netherlands and Turkey are potential semi-final opponents, should England find a way to click into gear, before a final showdown against one of the favourites.
