Erik ten Hag hints at Rasmus Hojlund return date as Manchester United striker begins full training
Manchester United will not be able to call upon Rasmus Hojlund against Nottingham Forest this weekend, Erik ten Hag has confirmed.
Reports ahead of Saturday’s game had suggested the Danish forward will be ready to enter the squad for a possible debut after arriving at the club with a back injury.
Hojlund trained with his United teamamtes for the first time on Friday and Ten Hag has indicated that he will not feature until the trip to Arsenal on September 3 at the earliest.
“Not for tomorrow,” confirmed the United boss.
“[He’s] near. Today, for the first time, he came into team training so next week we expect him to do a full week of team training so he is near to the squad.”
Another player Ten Hag was quizzed on ahead of Saturday’s game was Casemiro, who particularly underwhelmed in last week’s defeat to Tottenham.
“If you see the numbers, you see he's fully fit,” he said of the Brazilian.
“I have no doubts they can do it. After 35 minutes against Spurs he didn't do it anymore and we were first across the board for fitness.”
