Dwyane Wade tops Michael Jordan with final season record

Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade is making sure his final NBA season is one to remember.

The three-time NBA champion captured another slice of history on Tuesday, surpassing Michael Jordan for the most blocked shots by a guard.

Though blocked shots are usually the domain of paint-dwelling big-men, Wade and Jordan’s athleticism and basketball IQ helped them keep opponents wary of putting shots up around them.

Wade’s rejection of Atlanta Hawks guard BJ Johnson was the 894th block of his career.

The highlight play moved Wade above the Chicago Bulls legend on the list – a memorable achievement in his final year in the league.

The Heat did just enough to topple a frisky Hawks team 114-113.

Wade turned back the clock to lead all scorers in the game, knocking in 25 points and adding two rebounds, five assists and two blocks on 10/17 shooting.

He also made a huge bucket with less than a minute left to play to hand the Heat a four-point lead.

The former Finals MVP also had one final surprise up his sleeve for Hawks rookie Kevin Huerter, swapping jerseys with the young gun after the game.

The Heat have struggled with injuries and are sitting in 10th in the Eastern Conference, just outside the playoff picture with a 28-34 record.
