Donald Trump nominates former Dodgers exec Jamie McCourt as ambassador to France

Former Dodgers co-owner and executive Jamie McCourt is President Donald Trump's pick to serve as U.S. ambassador to France.

The White House on Thursday announced Trump's intent to nominate McCourt for the position. Numerous reports earlier this year had indicated Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria was in line for the ambassadorship.

McCourt and her husband, Frank, bought the Dodgers in 2004 and Jamie served in a variety of executive roles, eventually becoming CEO in 2009. That was the year the McCourts began two years of divorce proceedings that eventually resulted in Jamie receiving about $130 million and giving up her share of the team. Frank McCourt then sold the team in 2012 for $2 billion.

Jamie McCourt majored in French as an undergraduate at Georgetown and went on to study at the Sorbonne in Paris.
