Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler will have to watch Sunday's match against the New England Patriots from the bench.

The 34-year-old has been ruled out for the Dolphins' Week 12 matchup with a concussion, coach Adam Gase announced on Friday.

Cutler has remained in the NFL's concussion protocol since he was taken out of last week's against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after enduring a hit from defensive end Ryan Russell on the final play of the first half.

He was replaced by backup Matt Moore in the second half after completing six of 12 passes for 83 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.

Moore is set to get his second start of the season for Miami after previously starting the team's Week 8 shutout loss to the Baltimore Ravens

He completed 17 of 28 passes for 282 yards with one touchdown in relief of Cutler against the Bucs, but failed to revive the team from a 13-point deficit upon entering the game, as they ultimately lost 30-20 and dropped to 4-6 for the season.

The Dolphins are looking to snap a four-game losing streak when they visit the Patriots. Their in-form AFC East rivals are 8-2, having won six straight.
