How does the 2024 LIV Golf Team Championship work? Explaining the format, scoring, prize money and more
The LIV Golf League's regular season is in the books, which means it's time for the season-ending Team Championship.
LIV Golf's third season comes to an end this week in Texas, as Maridoe Golf Club in Dallas hosts the 2024 LIV Golf Team Championship, where all 13 teams will compete and have a chance to win the title. Maridoe is a par-72 layout measuring 7,535 yards.
Last year, Bryson DeChambeau's Crushers GC took home the title, and this week, they have the top seed and a quarterfinal bye. The Team Championship format features three days of competition with match and stroke play involved.
On Sunday, Jon Rahm won 2024 LIV Golf Chicago, and in the process he claimed the individual championship and the $18 million prize.
Here's everything you need to know about the 2024 LIV Golf Team Championship.
Every team will compete
Initially, only 12 of the 13 LIV Golf teams were going to compete in the Team Championship. Thanks to a rule change, the last-place team, Kevin Na's IronHeads GC, will be in the field as the 13th-seeded team.
The quarterfinals will consist of five matches between teams, with Brooks Koepka's Smash GC having the ability to pick which team it wants to play. Then the next highest seed will pick its opponent, and so on. Five teams will advance into the semifinals to complete the bracket.
LIV Golf match play is comprised of two singles matches and then a foursomes match. Team Captains may opt to participate in the singles or foursomes matchups.
Quarterfinal byes
Three teams earned quarterfinal byes based off their 2024 regular season performance: Bryson DeChambeau's Crushers GC, the defending champions of LIV Golf, Jon Rahm's Legion XIII and Cameron Smith's Ripper GC.
In a similar format to the quarterfinals, Crushers GC will have the choice to pick who it wants to play in the quarterfinals, followed by Legion XIII and then Ripper GC. The remaining two teams will battle it out in the fourth semifinal match.
Match play to stroke play
The four semifinal winners will advance to Sunday, when the team championship switches from match play to stroke play.
In stroke play, similar to the final round of the 13 regular-season LIV Golf events, will count all four scores, and the team with the lowest score will determine the champion.

Prize money
Yes, there is money up for grabs at the Team Championship. $50 million, in fact. There's a twist, however, as 60 percent of the winnings will go to each team while the leftover 40 percent will go to the players, or 10 percent of the total per player.
The winning team will earn $14 million, with $5.6 million of that divided evenly among the four players. Second place is awarded $8 million with third place earning $6 million. Eleven teams will earn seven-figure paydays, with the team placing last earning $600,000.
