Desperate 911 call released after Olympian's daughter dies in pool tragedy

The heart-wrenching emergency call, made by Olympic skier Bode Miller and his wife Morgan after their toddler drowned in a swimming pool, has been released to the public.

Moments after recovering their 19-month old baby, Emeline, from their friend’s pool, the Miller family and their friends can be heard frantically urging an ambulance to rush to their Californian property .

“Yes, hurry. HURRY,” a woman shouts in the 911 call released by Orange County Fire Authority.

When asked by a male dispatcher how long the baby had been in the water, the emotional woman tragically replies, “we don’t know.”

She is then taken through a number of emergency procedures by the dispatcher.

“Are you doing CPR or do you need me to coach you through it?,” he asks.

“Coach me through it, please,” she replies.

As the dispatcher advises the woman to lie the baby on its side in order to release water from its airways, a man, believed to be Bode Miller, shouts “I have a small pulse. I have a small pulse.”

“I need an oxygen machine here. Like now,” the man yells.

“Ok. They’re coming as fast as they can,” the dispatcher says.”

Orange County Fire Authority captain Tony Bommarito said paramedics continued in their attempts to revive young Emeline as she was rushed to hospital, where she was later announced dead.

Steve Concialdi, also of the OCFA, told PEOPLE that Bode and Morgan Miller were inside at a neighbour’s house when their baby ‘somehow her way to the backyard pool’.

“She was only missing for just a short amount of time and Mum turned and was looking for her and didn’t see her right next to her,” Concialdi said.

“Mum went straight to the backyard to where the pool was. The child was in the pool. The mum pulled out the little girl and they started CPR immediately.”

The Fire Authority took the opportunity to remind people about the importance of pool safety in a Facebook post following the tragedy.

“The OCFA would like to remind everyone to practice the A,B,Cs of Drowning Prevention,” the post read.

Both parents took to social media following the tragedy to share the same message, expressing sorrow and disbelief at their loss.

“We are beyond devastated,” the statement on Instagram reads.

“Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to its fullest everyday.”

Bode Miller officially retired from ski racing in 2017, after becoming one of the greatest racers of all time.

He won six medals in the Winter Olympics throughout his career, the most of any US skier.

Miller has recently been spending his time investing in horse racing.

She plays for the USA volleyball team.
