After Declaring "I Quit" On Social Media, Lizzo Has Clarified That She Is Not Actually Quitting Music
Lizzo is clearing the air.
Over the weekend, she posted a lengthy message to IG declaring "I quit," after saying she was "getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet."
"I'm starting to feel like the world doesn't want me in it," she wrote. "I'm constantly up against lies being told about me for clout and views...being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look."
The response to Lizzo's post was pretty huge. Celebrities voiced their support, and as news outlets picked up the statement, there was an interpretation that Lizzo was actually quitting music — like, for good.
After several days of silence, Lizzo has broken her silence to clarify that she is not actually quitting any specific element involving her career as a musician and public figure.
“When I say ‘I quit,’ I mean, I quit giving any negative energy attention," she said. "What I’m not gonna quit, is the joy of my life, which is making music…which is connecting to people."
"'Cause I know I’m not alone. In no way, shape, or form am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive.”
“If I can just give one person the inspiration or motivation to stand up for themselves and say they quit letting negative people win, negative comments win, then I’ve done even more than I could have hoped for. With that being said, I’m going to keep moving forward…keep being me.”
“The love that I’ve received means more than you know,” she concluded.
That settles it, I guess!
