Schwarzenegger inspires new deadlift world record

British weightlifter Eddie Hall has a new world record for a deadlift with his inspiration looking on.

Hollywood star and former Mr Olympia Arnold Schrzenegger was on hand over the weekend as Hall hauled 465 kilograms off the ground in a deadlift.

The weight was so great that the bar he was holding appeared at breaking point.

The onlooking packed crowd broke out into raucous applause as a judge approved the lift and subsequent world record.
