'What a moment': Darts fans lose it over incredible feat of perfection

Michael Smith has thrown the first Premier League ‘nine-darter’ in three years during a 7-5 victory over Daryl Gurney in Dublin.

Smith had fans going wild during the fourth leg of the match on Thursday when he checked out using just nine darts - the minimum required to win one leg.

The 32-year-old nailed triple-20, triple-19 and double-12 to complete the nine-darter after two maximum throws of 180.

“Wow, what a moment,” one TV commentator exclaimed as 9000 fans in attendance erupted.

“Great scenes here in Dublin.”

The incredible feat of perfection has only been achieved nine times in 16 Premier League seasons, the last of which was Adrian Lewis in 2017.

“I have never ever felt my heart beat so fast in my life,” Smith said afterwards.

“It felt weird. What a feeling I can't explain.

“For me I'm gutted I don't get paid...but a nine-darter is something on my list that has been ticked off.”

Fans go nuts over nine-darter

Smith can now snare an insane £50,000 bonus ($98,000) if he nails another nine-darter.

Tournament sponsors Unibet are offering the money to anyone who can land two nine-darters at the event.

The nine-darter sent fans into meltdown.
