Teenage monster taking boxing world by storm

Anthony Joshua is the talk of the boxing world at the moment, but 19-year-old compatriot Daniel Dubois is starting to overshadow him.

Dubois took just 40 seconds to demolish opponent Dave Howe on Sunday on the undercard of Gervonta Davis v Liam Walsh.

In just his third professional fight, Dubois sent Howe crashing to the mat with the first flurry of punches he threw.

English former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury saw Dubois first hand earlier this year and was full of praise.

"I can say I've sparred with a young king coming up," Fury told BoxNation.

"I thought he was fantastic. He reminded me of myself when I was 19. He's very tall, big and strong and ambitious."

Dubois's promoter Frank Warren is finding it increasingly difficult to ignore the hype.

"The obvious thing is how ridiculously powerful he is for someone so young," Warren told worldboxingnews.net.

"He's 107kg of pure granite. There's a real thud reverberating around the gym every time he smashes the heavy bag and he really scorches my hands when I take him on the pads.

"Remember, the kid's just 19. Lord, knows how destructive he'll be at 24, 25."

Joshua recently retained his IBF heavyweight title and claimed the vacant WBA and IBO straps with an 11th-round stoppage of Wladimir Klitschko in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

The Briton sent Klitschko to the canvas in the fifth round but appeared set for defeat after the Ukrainian knocked him down a round later.

However, the unbeaten Joshua recovered and hit Klitschko with a penultimate-round barrage that sent the 41-year-old to the deck twice more before the referee called a halt to an enthralling contest.
