D.J. Reed bluntly admitted he doesn't want to return to the Jets next year
Things have gotten so bad for the New York Jets that one of their best defensive players is basically saying goodbye before the season is over.
Go Long's Tyler Dunne wrote an extensive breakdown about the sordid state of affairs in New York, one with a very revealing comment from cornerback D.J. Reed.
Reed is one of the better veteran cornerbacks in the NFL and is slated to be a free agent this spring. When asked if he wants to return to the Jets next season, Reed reportedly shook his head and gave a very direct response.
“I’m ready to go to free agency, bro," Reed told Dunne. "I’m ready to see what’s next for me.”
Yikes. Reed basically saying he's not coming back to New York next season is such a glaring indictment of this era of Jets football. Good on Reed for being honest.
This franchise needs a thorough rebuild if it's going to retain talented players like Reed for years to come. This is just embarrassing.
