Crystal Palace were off-colour as Newcastle United left Selhurst Park with a 2-0 Premier League win on Friday night.

Here is how Jack Rosser rated Crystal Palace’s players on the night…

Vicente Guaita 5

Hardly troubled by Newcastle’s forward line until late on when Wilson managed to slide the ball through his legs.

Nathaniel Clyne 6

Very solid on the defensive side once again, could offer a touch more going forward.

Scott Dann 5

Got away with a big mistake in gifting the ball to Joelinton in the first half but was punished when dragged out of position for the goal.

Gary Cahill 6

Makes Palace look much more comfortable, can’t be blamed for the deflection on Joelinton’s goal.

Patrick van Aanholt 7

Defended well and put in some dangerous balls going forward, should have had an assist late on.

Andros Townsend 5

Did well in helping Clyne out but didn’t offer too much going forward. Not a night to really remember.

James McArthur 5

Reliable and composed as ever but when Palace need others to step up and create in Zaha’s absence, too conservative a performance.

Cheikhou Kouyate 6

Back in midfield after his stint in the back four, industrious as ever and did well to bring some composure after a jittery start from Palace.

Eberechi Eze 6

Started brightly but faded quickly, always looking to cause trouble but couldn’t step up and take a big chance with Zaha absent.

Jeffrey Schlupp 7

Palace’s biggest threat. Worked hard to make things happen going forward but rarely got the service required to make a real impact. Worked Darlow well in the first half.

Jordan Ayew 5

Not suited to playing through the middle. Must offer more.

Substitutes

Christian Benteke 6

Brings more out of those around him and would have had a first goal of the season were it not for a fine save from Darlow.

Jairo Riedewald 6

Adds some energy and flair to a stodgy Palace midfield, was unfortunate to be dropped.
