Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister snubs Lionel Messi as World Cup 2022 slammed as ‘worst ever’

Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister has slammed the recent World Cup in Qatar as the "worst ever" as her brother's long-time rival Lionel Messi cemented his legacy as the greatest player of all time.

Ronaldo headed into the tournament just days on from hitting out at Manchester United in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan, a week later he saw his contract at Old Trafford terminated and then the following week was part of the Portugal team knocked out by Morocco at the quarter-final stage to compound a miserable few weeks.

While Ronaldo continues to be silent across social media, the same cannot be said for his sister, Katia Aveiro, who made clear her feelings on the tournament and reserved special praise for Kylian Mbappe, though did not mention champion Messi.

Aveiro wrote on her Instagram stories: "The worst World Cup of all time… that thankfully gave us a great final. What a match. Congratulations to Argentina.”

She added: "Kylian Mbappe. This boy is unreal. What a bright future awaits you. Incredible."
