Embarrassing jersey typo adds to Stars' humiliation

If you thought the Melbourne Stars' woeful Big Bash campaign couldn't get any worse, you thought wrong.

Stars officials produced an all-time jersey typo for the side's clash with Adelaide Strikers on Tuesday night.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed wicketkeeper Peter Handscomb's name was misspelled on the back of his shirt and sweater, resulting in a hilarious blunder.

Unfortunately the 's' was left out of the middle of his name, leaving 'Handcomb'.

Sounds like something you'd use to brush your hair...

It's definitely not the first time this sort of thing has happened on the cricket field.

Who could forget Australian legend Glenn 'McGarth' or Kiwi skipper Kane 'Willamson'?

There was absolutely no way fans were going to let it slide, taking to social media with some brilliant reactions.

The Strikers returned to the top of the BBL table and extended the Stars' winless streak with an eight-wicket victory at Adelaide Oval.

Keeper Alex Carey (59 not out) and captain Travis Head (53) underpinned the Strikers' well-timed chase of 152, which they achieved with eight balls to spare.
