Aussies suffer embarrassing collapse against Bangladesh

Australia were cruising to victory against Bangladesh at the World T20 when Steve Smith, Usman Khawaja, David Warner, Mitch Marsh and Glenn Maxwell were all dismissed rather comically.

Steve Smith's men were 1-95 after 11 overs chasing the underdogs' fairly tame total of 157, but what followed would have had coach Darren Lehmann shaking his head.

Smith was bowled between his legs, Khawaja was bowled around his legs, Warner was caught and bowled off a full toss, Marsh popped an easy catch trying to block the ball, and Maxwell was stumped trying to smash the ball out of the ground.

Maxwell was guilty of trying to do too much, attempting a six when the Aussies needed just nine off 18 balls.

By the time James Faulkner made his way to the crease his side had lost 6-58, but 'The Finisher' managed to hold his nerve to stroke the match-winning boundary in the penultimate over.

Smith said the Australians needed to adapt better to different playing conditions if they were going to defeat Pakistan on Friday, before taking on red-hot title favourites India for a place in the semi-finals.

"We haven't been good enough in the middle overs," said Smith. "We've had a bit of travel, but it's not an excuse."

"Pakistan and India play well in these conditions and we have to do better. Our players have to adapt better (to different grounds)," he said.
