How many cricketers does it take to find a lost ball?

Western Australia's Sheffield Shield clash against NSW saw comical scenes when players streamed off the field to find a lost ball.

Commentators were left bemused when almost the entire WA team ended up over the boundary searching for the ball after NSW captain Nic Maddinson deposited it in some thick bushes over long on.

With no-one in the crowd at the ground in Lincoln, New Zealand, Warriors players were forced to play fetch.

"I cannot believe this. Have a look at this," said one of the commentators, as the players raced off the ground.

"Seven Warriors have gone into the hedge," said a second commentator.

"(It's like) a scene from a Harry Potter movie where they disappear into the maze."

It's the first Sheffield Shield match ever to be played overseas.
